Women’s Style: Mad Dash for Halloween

Halloween-lead.JPG

Don’t have a Halloween costume yet? Don’t worry, neither do we. When the subject of costumes came up in the Rugby offices, we agreed that the ultimate objective this season is to work with items we can actually wear more than once. (Live in infamy, last year’s $150 fur-trimmed tutu!) To that end, we came up with five chic Halloween options for ourselves based on fall Rugby items already in our wardrobes — and then generously decided to share them with you. Each look is based around one key item and a handful of easy-to-find props. October 31, check!

Halloween-Beatnik.jpg
Black Merino Turtleneck Dress

If you want to look: brainy
Black Merino Turtleneck Dress + Black Beret + Bongo Drum = Beatnik
You’ll look hot enough in that sleek LBD that your friends will forgive you for reciting annoying poems all night.

Halloween-Amelia.jpg
Leather Bomber Jacket

If you want to look: brave
Leather Bomber JacketCanvas Scout Fatigue Pant + Goggles + Flying Helmet = Amelia Earhart
This heroine boasted a killer combination of beauty, brains and bravery that make her more than worthy of emulating — plus, goggles are always fun.

Westbrook Rugby

If you want to look: comfortable
Westbrook Rugby & Striped Cotton Socks + Gym Shorts + Rugby Ball= Rugby Player
Want to get rowdy on Halloween? Smear a little eyeliner under those eyes and hit the town in the most comfortable costume ever.

Halloween-blair.jpg
Milliefield Tweed Skirt

If you want to look: school-girl hot
Milliefield Tweed Skirt & Gage Broadcloth Blouse + Headband + Knee Socks= Blair Waldorf
For the gal who wants to look hands-down hot without breaking out the PVC hot pants and Lucite heels.

Halloween-Sherlock.jpg
Sullivan Wool Jacket

If you want to look: warm
Sullivan Wool Jacket & White Oxford + Pipe + Tweed Cap = Sherlock Holmes
Blair’s mini skirt is a wear-at-your-own-risk proposition when the temps did below 30. If your location requires that you dress for the weather, there is nothing more stylish (or warm!) than dressing like everyone’s favorite tweed-wearing detective. And, don’t worry, Blair doesn’t get to have all the fun -- you can always add heels if you want to amp up the sex appeal.
